Find Out How GABA Benefits You

December 22, 2013 By Henry

This article will serve as a brief overview into how GABA benefits you. For those of you looking to find a more comprehensive article as to how GABA works, i.e. the complex mechanisms behind the process, then please check out my article here.

Essentially, GABA is an inhibitor found in the brain that limits the creation of too many chemicals that may cause overexcitement by blocking certain brain signals (neurotransmissions). When there is a deficiency of GABA and there is an abundance of these chemicals it can lead to serious problems like: restlessness, irritability, insomnia, seizures, and spontaneous body movements (twitching).

As such, having GABA in the brain can bring about relaxation and calm by preventing the above problems from happening in the first place, or getting out of hand. Below is a list of the possible ways GABA benefits you:

  • Reduction of anxiety.
  • Improved mood.
  • Treatment of Attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Increased growth of lean muscle mass
  • Pain relief
  • Soothing blood pressure
  • Fat loss
  • Treating premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
  • Better sleep
